This is Andrea Allison from ROOTS Recreation and Learning Center. I am reaching out to local businesses with an opportunity to change the lives of our Glendale children! Your sponsorship will help reduce elevated risk behaviors such as drug/alcohol use and teen pregnancy by helping provide a safe place for the youth here in Glendale. Who is ROOTS?
ROOTS Recreation and Learning Center:
Antrane Howard is one of our kids and her life has been dramatically changed because of the ROOTS program. She was an adolecent on probation and found herself fighting with her peers on a regular basis. She absolutely hated police before coming to the program. Now, she spends her free time having fun with her peers at the recreation center and has encountered a growing friendship with a female Glendale Police officer. We have sports, tutoring, and family support programs that we believe will impact more lives just like Antrane's. I have attached a video link to the Channel 3 News Suprise Squad story. You will enjoy seeing how the Glendale Police Department surprised the ROOTS program by nominating them for 3 TVS Surprise Squad. The ROOTS kids won 21 laptops and tons of recreational activities and toys. We are very grateful to have been so fortunate and would love to see local business come together to help out our children. - We are a 501C 3 Nonprofit organization located in Glendale.
- We currently have over 400 children who attend this program.
- ROOTS addresses community conditions that have placed our youth at risk of involvement in potentially problematic behaviors. Our vision for them is that they will have a fun, safe, structured place where they can learn and be inspired.
